Tournament Rules

Game Times:

Printed game times are effective through the first game for all teams. After which, each team is encouraged to check the master scoreboard for game times, cancellations, court assignments and general information. Teams are given a seven (7) minute grace period before a forfeit is enforced. Due to the effect of unexpected delays, scheduling changes, or inclement weather, each team is encouraged to keep a contact on their respective courts. If cancellation occurs due to inclement weather, act of God, or any reason causing unsafe conditions for game play, refunds will not be given. Court officials furthermore have the authority at anytime to call / end / cancel games due to unsafe conditions.

Number of Players:

A team shall consist of a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of four (4) players representing their team on their roster. A minimum of two (2) players per team must be present to start a game. A maximum of three (3) players per team can be on the court at any given time. All games must be finished with at least two (2) eligible players from each team on the court.

Captains / Adult Monitors:

Each team will need to appoint a team captain that will be responsible for all correspondence to/from your team. If team is in high school division or below, an adult monitor (age 18 or over) will need to be apointed.

Ball First:

The coin toss prior to the game will determine who gets the ball first.

Check Ball:

Before/after each scored point the ball must be ‘checked’ before game play begins. This is done by passing the ball to the other team and the other team passing it back as an example of readiness to begin game play. Once the ball is checked, it must be passed in. All ‘checks’ must be made above the free throw line. Unchecked balls will result in a change of possession after the first warning. Ball changes possession after each scored point.

Take Back:
When a shot is missed, the ball stolen or possession changed, the ball must be taken back. This means dribbling or passing to a teammate whose entire body is above the 2 point arc. The person and ball have to be above the line at the time of take back. Failure to do so will result in points NOT being awarded – and loss of possession.

Scoring:
Each basket scored inside the 2 point arc will be counted as one (1) point. Baskets made beyond the 2 point arc are counted as two (2) points. Free throws are counted as one (1) point. There is no continuation. When fouled inside the two point arc, the team is awarded one (1) free throw shot. A foul beyond the 2 point arc results in two (2) free throws being awarded. Though players cannot foul out, 10 team fouls will result in the offending team awarding the opposing team one (1) free throw per successive foul.

Dunking:
No dunking is allowed prior to, during, or after any game. On the first offense a warning will be given, and points will not be awarded, if the team scored. After warning, dunks will be treated as unsportsmanlike conduct.

Out Of Bounds:
A ball out of bounds will be ‘checked’ above the 2 point arc.

Time-Out:
Each team will be given one forty-five (45) second time out per game. In the event of overtime, each team will be given one (1) additional timeout. Unused time-outs will not carry over into overtime.

Jump Ball:
In the event of a jump ball, the ball will alternate possession. Initially it will go to the team that lost the coin toss, and alternate thereafter.

Substitutions:
Substitutions can be made during dead ball situations or time-outs.

Authorized Equipment & Apparel:
No player shall be allowed to wear a guard, cast, hard brace, or other potentially dangerous equipment on his or her elbow, hand, wrist, finger, or forearm, including equipment made of hard leather, plastic, plaster, or metal—even if the equipment is covered with soft padding. The offended team gets one (1) free throw and possession of the ball.

Illegal Players:

Before the beginning of the tournament, each player will be required to sign the Hibachi waiver and release, along with the sportsmanship pledge and compliance agreement.
